The Moment I Wrote It Down— My Voice Found Me
There was a moment during my Master’s program that changed the trajectory of my life—and at the time, I didn’t even realize it.
As I was preparing to be inducted into the National Society of Leadership and Success, one of the requirements was to define my purpose. Part of that process included creating a word cloud—gathering words that reflected who I was, what I valued, and how I showed up in the world.
After reviewing the words, I was asked to find the common thread and define my purpose.
In the center of that page, I wrote two words:
Motivational Speaker.
At the time, I hadn’t fully claimed it. I wasn’t actively pursuing it. I didn’t even know what that path would look like for me.
But something shifted.
From that moment on, opportunities began to find me.
I started receiving invitations to speak on panels and at events—sharing my experiences in leadership, mentorship, organization, and time management. I spoke about career growth, navigating institutional resources, and showing up intentionally in professional spaces.
I served in leadership roles within many organizations, where I contributed to conversations centered on diversity, equity, and inclusion. I also participated in discussions around productivity, impact, and professional development.
In July 2020, I delivered a keynote titled “The Power of Writing Things Down” at the Organization for Women’s Lean In Circle graduation—what I now recognize as a full-circle moment rooted in the very exercise that first revealed my purpose.
Through my involvement in Toastmasters International, I continued to refine my voice, stepping into leadership roles while strengthening my ability to communicate with clarity and confidence.
But the most meaningful shift in my speaking came later—after my own personal healing journey which began in 2023.
What once was rooted primarily in professional growth evolved into something deeper.
I began speaking not just from experience—but from transformation.
In April 2025, I was invited to speak at the CTDO (Chief Technology and Digital Officer) Office Administrative Retreat, where I delivered a keynote titled “Permission to Grow.” This message reflected a new level of alignment—one centered on mindset, self-worth, and giving ourselves the space to evolve beyond who we once were.
Today, my voice extends beyond the stage.
Through platforms like TikTok—and expanding into YouTube and Instagram—I share messages rooted in healing, self-discovery, and personal growth, connecting with others in real time as we navigate our journeys together.
Looking back, I realize that writing those two words down wasn’t just an assignment.
It was alignment.
It was the beginning of me stepping into who I was always meant to be.
Now, whether I’m speaking on a stage, participating in a panel, or sharing a message online, my purpose remains the same:
To inspire others to find their voice, trust their journey, and create a life that feels aligned from the inside out.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one moment—one decision, one word—to begin becoming who you already are.
